Welcome

The Developmental Disabilities Training Institute (DDTI), originally established in 1963, is part of the Jordan Institute for Families in the School of Social Work, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Our primary purpose and mission is to foster ongoing improvements in services and supports for people with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities (and co-occurring issues) by providing intensive, high quality, short-term training for administrative, professional and paraprofessional staff involved in their lives.

Mission Statement

New Training:


  • Cultural Diversity Training: This training aims to make participants more "pro-active" by valuing diverse relationships and capitalizing on differences..
  • People Planning Ahead: (training events will be held in June, July and August 2012) - this training is a one-day introduction to the topics of "advance care planning"; inclusive of healthcare decision making, alternatives to guardianship, and care at the end of life through the lens of person centered practices.
